This year, Indian Railways has run thousands of special trains for Chhath Puja. Looking outside the New Delhi Railway Station, everything seems to be in order; tents have been set up for the passengers, reservation and general bogie passengers are being allowed to enter in separate lines so that there is no crowd at the station, the waiting area for the passengers has been arranged, RPF personnel are also present everywhere. At first glance everything appears to be under control, but the actual poor condition and poor system is visible inside the train and especially in the general bogie. Where there is no room for pushing and shoving to open doors, fighting to go inside and even going from one place to another.
People from all over India are going towards Bihar for Chhath Puja, Indian Railways claims that everything is good, thousands of trains have been run but the general bogie of the train is exposing the claim of Indian Railways that everything is good. Today, to know the real condition of the trains going towards Bihar, ABP News team traveled from New Delhi Railway Station to Ghaziabad Station with the ticket of General bogie of Shramjeevi Superfast Express (1292) and the result came out that the General bogie is filled with people as if sheep and goats are filled in a truck. This sheep-goat line is not ours, but Aslauddin, a passenger traveling from Delhi to Patna in the train, said while talking to ABP News that it is a compulsion to go home. But in the name of system, people have been crammed into the general bogie as if they were sheep or goats.
Shramjeevi Express packed with passengers, no space to even step foot
Shramjeevi Superfast Express runs from New Delhi via Bareilly, Lucknow, Banaras in UP to Patna in Bihar, Rajgir via Nalanda and the entire journey takes at least 21 hours. But in the general bogie, people are loaded on top of each other. The seat where three people can hardly sit, on the seat above and below, there are 5 to 6 people sitting on each seat. People are sitting close to each other in the empty space below and where there is only a little space between the two people, people are standing there.
The condition is so bad that on the general bogie, one person is sitting on the lap of another person on the chair seat near the window. More than a dozen people are standing and sitting near the toilet of the train and in the same way, people are crammed in the area between the two doors of the train, sitting and standing. The rest, who are neither getting a place to sit nor to stand, are going towards their home hanging in the air on the two upper seats.
What to do, there is compulsion, there is no arrangement but I have to go home – Uday Paswan
According to Uday Paswan, who worked as a laborer after coming to Delhi from Bihar, just like cows and buffaloes are loaded in trucks and trolleys, those people have been loaded in the same way, but what to do is out of compulsion and there is no system. Whereas a female passenger going till Bakhtiyarpur told ABP News that whether it is a special train or any other train, the condition of everyone is the same. See in this train also, we are traveling standing and children are traveling lying on the ground.
The crowd of passengers in the train is exposing the railway system.
Indian Railways is continuously giving clarification that the system in trains is fine and some people are defaming the department by sharing old pictures. But the videos and pictures recorded by our team clearly show that apart from other places, many passengers are standing on the narrow path between the two coaches, leave alone sitting. This is the condition of trains like Shramjeevi when more than 12 thousand special trains are running this year.
In such a situation, it is being estimated that this time more people are going towards their homes, especially towards Bihar, to celebrate Chhath than the estimate of Indian Railways. In such a situation, it has to be seen that there are still three days left for Chhath Puja. Also, there is a possibility of further increase in the crowd in railway platforms and general bogies, so whether the Railways makes any concrete strategy to handle the increasing number of passengers or not.
