Bollywood actor Ajay Devgan has always impressed everyone with his acting. He became famous everywhere after Ram Gopal Varma’s gangster drama Company. Ajay’s work was highly appreciated in the company. However, now in an interview, Ram Gopal Varma has revealed that this film was offered to some other actor before Ajay. But later Ram Gopal Varma changed his mind and cast Ajay Devgan.
Ram Gopal Varma talked about his film company in an interview given to Siddharth Kannan. He told that the role of N Malik in the film was first offered to Shahrukh Khan but after meeting the superstar, he decided to cast Ajay instead of Shahrukh.
Shahrukh Khan was the first choice
Ram Gopal Varma revealed that Shahrukh Khan was his first choice for the role of N Malik but later he changed his mind. He said- ‘My first thought was to cast Shahrukh Khan. I went to him and told him the story, and he showed interest in it. But I felt that Shahrukh’s body language is natural, he is very energetic, he is like a live wire. The idea of Malik’s character was that of a person who is calm and cool when thinking. I felt that Shahrukh’s natural energy would go against it. Still, taking Shahrukh in the film would be injustice to both him and the film.
Ram Gopal Varma further said- ‘I think one is a performing actor and the other is an actor. I am not saying that one is better than the other, but it is a different style of acting. A person like Shahrukh should be left to his own devices. I think the director will not succeed in trying to cast him in a different kind of character. But Ajay was naturally suited for that role, he is of very calm nature. That’s when I decided to take Ajay. I had just one meeting with Shahrukh, and in that I realized that this would not work, but I did not tell him.
Talking about the company, Ajay Devgan, Manisha Koirala, Vivek Oberoi, Mohanlal, Antara Mali and Seema Biswas were seen playing important roles in this film.
