England won the five-match T20 series against India 4-0. Immediately after this, shocking news has come out from England. England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has dismissed coach Brendon McCullum. However, it is important to note here that Brendon McCullum will no longer be the coach of England’s Test team only. Brendon McCullum will be the head coach of England in white ball format i.e. in ODI cricket and T20 cricket.
Former New Zealand legend Brendon McCullum was made the head coach of the Test team by England about four years ago. England Cricket said in a social media post that Brendon McCullum will step down as head coach of the England men’s Test team, but will continue to lead the England men’s white ball teams. This means that now Brendon McCullum will be the head coach of only the ODI and T20 team.

This decision of ECB has come after England’s Test captain Ben Stokes retired from international cricket. McCullum admitted that he was disappointed at the end of his tenure as the head coach of the Test team. His statement also indicated that this decision was a result of the board’s decision rather than his voluntarily stepping down.
In a press release issued by the ECB, Brendon McCullum said, “I certainly regret not continuing with the Test team, but I respect the Board’s decision. Now my entire focus will be on the limited overs teams and I will give my best to take England cricket forward. I wish the Test team every success. There is immense talent in the dressing room and this is a very special group of players. I will always support these players and hope that they continue to play great cricket.” Stay. I am confident that he will make the country proud in future too.”
England will now enter the three-match World Test Championship series against Pakistan with a new head coach. Recently, England had to face a 1-2 defeat in the Test series against New Zealand, whereas it has achieved the distinction of becoming the world’s number one T-20 team by defeating India 4-0 in the T-20 International series.
