Their objective is to stop fake connections, black marketing and duplicate consumers. If customers do not follow these rules, they may face problems in gas booking or cylinder delivery.

7 important rules related to LPG-

1. OTP Verification

Now OTP verification has been made mandatory at the time of delivery of gas cylinder. After booking the cylinder, an OTP will be sent to your registered mobile number. The cylinder will be received only after telling this OTP to the delivery boy. Its objective is to deliver the cylinder to the right customer.

2. E-KYC and Biometric Update

The government and oil companies are appealing to the customers to get e-KYC done. Biometric verification is also being done at many places. If your KYC is not updated, there may be difficulty in getting gas service in future.

3. Mobile number update

Your mobile number should be updated in the records of the gas agency. OTP, booking message and other important information are sent to this number. If the number has changed, get it updated in the agency as soon as possible.

4. There will be no second booking

According to the new rules, second LPG booking cannot be done before 25 days after taking one cylinder in urban areas. Its objective is to ensure gas distribution as per requirement.

5. 45 day rule in villages

A gap of 45 days has been kept for second cylinder booking in rural areas. This will help in stopping fake booking and black marketing of gas.

6. Keeping an eye on subsidies in PNG

In areas where piped natural gas facility is available, monitoring of rules related to LPG subsidy and connection is being increased. The government wants that both the facilities should not be misused.

7. Checking multiple connections to one address

Oil companies are now investigating such cases where multiple LPG connections exist at the same address. If any connection is found to be fake or against the rules, action can be taken against it.

With these new rules, genuine consumers will be able to get gas cylinders on time. Besides, fake connections, duplicate consumers and black marketing will be banned. This will make the gas distribution system more transparent and safe.
