Manoj Bharti says that the core committee meeting will be held on July 4. After this, a decision will be taken and the name of the candidate will be announced on July 5.
On this occasion, former MLC and Jan Suraj leader Rambali Chandravanshi said that the people of Bankipur Assembly wish that Prashant Kishor should contest the elections. We have also made up our mind that Prashant Kishor will contest the elections, but it will be announced after the core committee meeting.
This announcement has been made by Jan Suraj when the notification regarding the by-election has been issued by the Election Commission on Thursday (July 02, 2026). By-election will be held on Bankipur seat on July 30 while counting of votes will take place on August 3.
There was talk of contesting the 2025 elections also
If sources are to be believed, Prashant Kishore can be a candidate. If he contests, it will be the first time for Prashant Kishore to contest elections. There was talk of his contest during the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections but he did not contest.

What is the history of Bankipur assembly seat?
Talking about Bankipur seat, BJP has been winning this seat continuously since 1995. The family of BJP national president Nitin Naveen has been in possession of this seat. Nitin Naveen’s father Naveen Kishore Prasad Sinha has been elected MLA from here for four consecutive times. After his death, Nitin Naveen won the by-election in 2006 and since then he had been continuously becoming MLA from this seat.
