Baramati has once again come to the center of emotions and strategy in Maharashtra politics. NCP-SCP MP Supriya Sule has made an important and sensitive appeal to the Congress leadership regarding the by-elections to be held after the death of Ajit Pawar. He has demanded that the elections in Baramati should be conducted unopposed.
Ajit Pawar’s untimely demise has shocked not only his supporters but the entire political class. In the same context, Supriya Sule wrote on social media

Recalling his political career further, he said, “Ajit Dada’s political journey started with the Congress Party and he maintained respectful and long-term relations with it throughout his career.”
The most important part of Supriya Sule’s appeal is the emotional message that directly challenges the sensitivities of political parties. He wrote, “At this moment of mourning and remembrance, an unopposed election in Baramati would be a dignified and true tribute to his legacy of public service and inclusive politics.”
And finally appealed directly to Congress, “I sincerely appeal to the Congress leadership to consider this initiative in the spirit of respect and unity.”
A total of 53 candidates have filed nominations so far in the by-election to be held on April 23, including Sunetra Pawar and Congress’s Akash More. The last date for withdrawal of names is April 9, before which there are signs of further intensification of political manipulation.
