Kitchen Budget: If these days you are also feeling that your kitchen expenses are continuously increasing, then it is not just you, but the latest figures also show the same. In June 2026, there has been a continuous increase in the budget for home-cooked food, especially in both vegetarian and non-veg thalis. This is the first time in the last 5 months that the cost of both has become more expensive than before.

The biggest reason for increase in household kitchen expenses is the increase in the prices of edible oil, LPG cylinder and broiler chicken. According to CRISIL Intelligence’s monthly ‘Roti-Rice Rate’ report, the price of a vegetarian thali reached Rs 28.4 in June, while in May it was Rs 27.4. At the same time, the average price of non-veg thali has been recorded at Rs 58.2 in June, which was Rs 56.5 in May.

Why did non-veg thali become expensive?

  • The reason for the increase in the price of non-veg thali is the increase in the price of broiler chicken.
  • Compared to last year, the price of broiler chicken has increased by about 7%, whereas in a month it has increased by about 2%.
  • According to CRISIL, broiler chicken accounts for the largest share in the total price of non-veg thali.
  • This is the reason why the entire thali became expensive due to increase in its price.
