What did the hospital say?
The medical bulletin issued by Medanta Hospital on Saturday afternoon said that State Congress President Ajay Rai (56) was brought to the emergency department at around 6.30 pm on Friday. At that time, he was unconscious and had suffered a stroke. Initial investigation found low levels of sodium in his blood (hyponatremia).

The health bulletin states that currently, he is undergoing treatment under the supervision of critical care specialist Dr. Dilip and his team. During treatment, his sodium levels have been controlled and stabilized. At present his condition is improving. He has been admitted to the ICU and is under constant observation of doctors.
State Congress spokesperson Anshu Awasthi said on Saturday that Ajay Rai was admitted to Medanta Hospital in Lucknow on Friday evening due to low sodium level in the body. He fainted at his residence in Lucknow. He remained busy in party programs the whole day and even went to the airport.
