The possibility of seeing the final match between India and Pakistan in the boxing competition of Commonwealth Games 2026 seems to be getting stronger. If the boxers of both the countries win their respective semi-final matches, then India and Pakistan can face each other for the gold medal on August 1. Recently, Indian boxer Jadumani Singh had registered a spectacular victory by defeating Pakistan’s Sugama Rehman in the round of 16 match. Now another India-Pakistan match is expected in the women’s 60 kg weight category, where the gold medal will be at stake.
Final equations made in women’s 60 kg category
In the quarter-final matches played on July 28, women boxers from both India and Pakistan won and made it to the semi-finals. Pakistan’s Fatima Zahra entered the last four by defeating New Zealand’s Jordan Wilson 5-0. India’s Priya Ghanghas won the semi-final ticket by defeating host Scotland’s Niamh Mitchell 4-1.
Semi-final challenge will be held on 31st July
The semi-final matches of women’s 60 kg weight category will be played on July 31. Pakistan’s Fatima Zahra will face Canada’s Mary Al Ahmadi in the semi-finals. On the other hand, Priya Ghanghas of India will enter the ring against Lucy Kings of England. Both the boxers will face the challenge of making it to the finals.
India-Pakistan will clash in the final
If Priya Ghanghas and Fatima Zahra win their respective semi-final matches, then the final match will be played between India and Pakistan for the gold medal on 1 August.
