The 7th day (Wednesday) of Glasgow Commonwealth Games 2026 was great for India. India’s third gold medal came in the competition, 2 players won silver medals. In athletics, long jumper Murali Srishankar won the silver medal with a jump of 8.09 meters. He created history by winning the silver medal in the second consecutive Commonwealth Games. In para-athletics, India won both gold and silver medals in the men’s 100 meter T47 event. It was a great day for India in boxing, Indian boxers have secured 10 medals.

Murali Sreeshankar created history, becoming the first Indian athlete to win two consecutive medals in the long jump event at the Commonwealth Games. Sreeshankar also won a silver medal in the 2022 Birmingham Games. Talking about the gold medal, it was won by Taja Gayle of Jamaica, who jumped 8.15 meters. Scotland’s Stephen McKenzie won bronze in the event. There was another Indian in this event in the form of Lokesh Satyanathan, who finished fifth.

Dilip Gavit won gold

Shortly after Sreeshankar won the silver medal on Wednesday, Dilip Gavit created history by winning the gold. In Men’s 100m T47 event (Para Athletics), Dilip Gavit won gold with a new games record of 10.71 seconds. Mohammad Basil won silver in the event.

India's third gold in CWG 2026, 10 medals assured in boxing

10 medals confirmed in boxing

Wednesday was also a great day for the boxers, who confirmed at least 10 more medals for India by making it to the semi-finals. Sakshi Choudhary in 51 kg category, Arundhati Choudhary in 70 kg category, Sachin Siwach in 60 kg category, Ankush Panghal in 80 kg category, Narendra Barwal in 90+ kg category and Jasmine Lamboria in 57 kg category have made it to the semi-finals.

Earlier, 4 players had made it to the top-4. Lovlina Borgohain in 75 kg category, Priya Ghanghas in 60 kg category, Preeti Pawar in 54 kg category and Jadumani Singh in 55 kg category have also reached the semi-finals. 10 Indian boxers have reached the semi-finals, due to which at least 10 more medals have been confirmed for India. Let us tell you that in boxing there is no competition for third place, hence both the players who lose the semi-finals are given bronze.

Bronze – Jhandu Kumar (Para Powerlifting), Bindiarani Devi (Weightlifting), Shilpa (Para Athletics).
