It is too early to bring Vaibhav Suryavanshi into the Indian senior cricket team. This is what former Indian cricketer Akash Chopra has to say. He says that undoubtedly the IPL 2026 season has been great for Vaibhav, in which he has scored 680 runs in 15 matches and currently he also has the Orange Cap. But Chopra says that the selectors should exercise patience.
On his YouTube channel, Aakash Chopra said that the next T20 World Cup is still 2 years away. He admitted that Vaibhav is a special player, but his coming into the team means the departure of an opening batsman. Abhishek Sharma and recently Sanju Samson have done well as openers for Team India. Obviously, Vaibhav’s arrival will cause turmoil in the combination of the T20 team.
Vaibhav is a special player
Aakash Chopra said – The idea of bringing Vaibhav Suryavanshi to Team India is exciting. Because IPL is India’s biggest T20 tournament and Vaibhav’s performance in it cannot be ignored at all. There is no doubt that Vaibhav is a special player. But there should not be changes in the team just because some other player has done well.
Aakash Chopra gave a direct message to the selectors and said that right now Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson are in the opening. He said that the selectors remove Abhishek and Sanju and give a chance to Vaibhav Suryavanshi, and what will they do if after 2-3 years Vaibhav struggles with poor form.

He further said, “Vaibhav is not Indian cricket but he is a part of Indian cricket and I believe that the selectors will also understand this very well and they will definitely take the right decision. Vaibhav should get a chance, but not necessarily tomorrow, it may take time. He is 20 years ahead of himself, so there should be no haste.”
