Govt on E20 and Crude Oil Prices: The monsoon session of Parliament is going on, in which many issues related to the country and the world are being discussed. In such a situation, it was certain that there would be discussion on ethanol and petrol in the Parliament session. Amidst all the ongoing protests regarding E20, the government has released some figures in this session of Parliament, which tell how much the government spends on ethanol blended petrol and crude oil mixed petrol.

Actually, Minister of State for Petroleum Suresh Gopi has answered all the questions regarding petrol and E20 in this session of Parliament. During this, he has told how much the government spends per liter on crude and how much is being spent on E20.

Minister Suresh Gopi told during the Parliament session that, from April 2025 to June 2026, oil companies purchased 705.43 crore liters of ethanol for Rs 49,577.36 crore, due to which the price of ethanol purchase for E20 became Rs 70.27 per liter.
So the international price of crude oil in July is $ 74.8 per barrel. This means that the government pays Rs 45.31 per liter of crude oil for producing petrol.
Only 20 percent ethanol will be mixed
Apart from this, the government has also made it clear in this winter session that only 20 percent ethanol will be mixed in ethanol blended petrol. At present there is no consideration going on by the government on any quantity higher than this. At the same time, it has also been told by the government that ethanol is not a new fuel but it has been in use in the country since 2001.

In the year 2001, it was used for transport, which was also a part of a testing process. Its percentage in petrol was increased in the year 2013-14. Now in the year 2025-26, it is being mixed up to 20 percent and at the same time it will be used for the vehicles of the general public.
