India has come to 125th position in the Global Passport Index 2026. However, despite being slightly better than last year, India could not make it to the list of top 100 countries. After being ranked 127th between 2021 and 2023, India reached 124th position in 2025, but now it has lagged behind again. In this way, Indian passport provides the facility to visit only 26 countries without visa.
Talking about the ranking, the Indian passport is below Namibia and behind countries like Philippines, Morocco and Uzbekistan, while it is ahead of countries like Azerbaijan and Kyrgyzstan. Indian passport holders can visit places like Bhutan, Nepal, Jamaica, Macau, Palestine, Tunisia, Angola and Barbados without visa or with ‘Visa on Arrival’ facility.
Indian passport holders will still need a visa to visit about 88 countries including the US, UK, Germany, France, China and UAE. Among India’s neighboring countries, China is ranked 104th, which is much ahead of India (125th position). However, India is in a much better position than many other South Asian countries. Let us tell you that in the Global Passport Index 2026, Bangladesh is ranked 166th, Nepal 164th and Pakistan 188th, which is one of the lowest countries in this index.
Same number of America and France
In fact, most of the European countries are included in the top 10 list of the Global Passport Index 2026, which is maintaining the continent’s continued strength in global travel mobility. The special thing is that both America and France are at 11th place in this list and just missed a place in the top 10, while Canada is at 13th place.
