Shubman Gill Statement: The only Test between India and Afghanistan was played from June 06 at the Maharaja Yadvinder Singh International Cricket Stadium in New Chandigarh. Gill was asked about giving follow on. Responding to this he said, “It was very hot. If we get him out before lunch, we will follow on, otherwise we will bat for a few more sessions.”

Gill said, “It’s simple, when you are in a position to bat first, make a big total.”
Gill further talking about the young players said, “There is more pressure on the batting group, we are trying to gain experience, trying to know which game can prove to be effective for us in different situations.”
Record of biggest win made under Gill’s captaincy
Shubman Gill defeated all other Indian captains as captain. Team India made a record of achieving the biggest win in Test under the captaincy of Gill. The victory by one innings and 300 runs became the biggest victory for India in Tests. Earlier, the record of the biggest win was made in 2018, when Team India defeated West Indies by an innings and 272 runs in Rajkot.
