Air Fare News: The impact of the ongoing war in the Middle East has now reached plane tickets. Singapore Airlines, the world’s largest airline, has itself admitted that the price of jet fuel has more than doubled since the conflict began. Singapore Airlines also said that it is working with Tata Sons to help Air India overcome this problem. Air India’s fleet upgrade and new aircraft work is ongoing.
The good news is that both the airlines have together expanded the scope of their codeshare flights. From May 4, 2026, 21 new routes have been added, which include one domestic and 20 international destinations. Now both the airlines together transport passengers to 82 cities in 27 countries.
Airlines are facing the brunt of fuel
Singapore Airlines also said that it carried a record 4 crore 24 lakh passengers this year, which is about 8 percent more than last year. This means that people are traveling by air a lot but the airlines are facing the cost of fuel. Singapore Airlines and its low-cost carrier Scoot have increased fares, but the company itself admitted that this increase is not able to fully compensate for the fuel expenses.
