Royal Challengers Bangalore have created history by winning the IPL trophy for the second consecutive year. In the final, Bengaluru defeated Gujarat Titans by 5 wickets. There was a period when RCB could not win a single trophy in 17 seasons, but Rajat Patidar has turned the fortunes of the Bengaluru franchise around.
Bengaluru maintained its dominance throughout the season. First topped the points table, then easily overcome the challenge of Qualifier 1 and created history by defeating Gujarat Titans in a one-sided fashion in the final challenge i.e. the final. But apart from RCB, it was a memorable season for many other players also.
This season was also in the name of Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who became the youngest batsman in history to win the Orange Cap. For most of the season, Bhuvneshwar Kumar continued to lead the race for the Purple Cap, but in the end Kagiso Rabada won. Whereas Vaibhav Suryavanshi was the batsman who hit the most sixes in a season. He hit 72 sixes in the season. See here the list of all the award winners from Orange Cap to Purple Cap and Super Six.
