LSG VS RCB: A total of 23 matches have taken place in IPL so far. In this match held on 15th April, RCB won by 5 wickets and Bengaluru won the match unilaterally. Bengaluru chased the target of 147 runs in just 15.1 overs. However, had Lucknow Super Giants not made a big mistake in the first over of RCB’s innings, the outcome of the match would have been different.
RCB benefited from Virat Kohli’s important innings
Lucknow Super Giants got a big opportunity in the beginning of the IPL match. An easy opportunity for a run out in the first over was missed, in which either Virat Kohli or Phil Salt could have been dismissed. The batting team got the benefit of this mistake in fielding.
First over mistake, missed opportunity, changed direction of the match
After surviving the initial shock, Virat Kohli took charge of his innings and strengthened the team. He scored 49 runs in 34 balls, which included 6 fours and 1 six. His innings played an important role in RCB moving towards the target.
Kohli’s steady innings
If Kohli had been run out in the very first over, the direction of the match could have changed. At that time, Phil Salt was also out soon, which could have increased the pressure on RCB. But this did not happen and Kohli’s innings kept the team afloat.
This mistake of Lucknow cost them dearly during the match. Kohli’s inning of 49 runs proved to be decisive for RCB.
