Delhi Capitals vs Chennai Super Kings: In the match between Delhi Capitals and Chennai Super Kings, CSK’s Ruturaj Gaikwad and Jamie Overton committed a mistake. Both of them ran to catch the ball but due to lack of mutual equation, both of them left the catch. CSK’s veteran players Ruturaj Gaikwad and Jamie Overton did not do this intentionally. Both of them ran towards the ball. But they made this mistake in giving each other a chance to catch.
This is the second case in IPL 2026 when this has happened. This happened earlier also when two fielders kept looking at each other and the ball fell in the middle. A video of Pakistani players also went viral on social media in which neither of Saeed Ajmal and Shoaib Malik tries to take a catch and the ball falls between them. Something similar happened with Rashid Khan and Manav Suthar of Gujarat Titans while playing against Punjab Kings. Now the players of Chennai Super Kings also made the same mistake.

Why did Ruturaj and Overton make this mistake?
Jamie Overton could not judge the ball properly and initially ran in the wrong direction. By the time he could recover, captain Ruturaj Gaikwad was also coming from the covers side for the same catch. In the end, the situation became such that both the players kept looking at each other and due to lack of coordination, no one tried to catch the ball. The ball fell on the ground right in between them.

However, Overton did not let this mistake affect his bowling. On the very next ball, he took the wicket of Delhi’s explosive batsman Tristan Stubbs and sent him back to the pavilion, who was playing after scoring 38 runs. Overton bowled very tightly in his 19th over and gave only 5 runs. On the other hand, after getting a lease of life, Sameer Rizvi hit a six off Anshul Kamboj on the last ball of the innings and took Delhi’s score beyond 150, but still Sieske won.

Sanju Samson’s innings led to victory
CSK easily achieved this target with 8 wickets in hand. The biggest hero of the team’s victory was Sanju Samson, who showed his strong batting and played an unbeaten inning of 87 runs. Thanks to Sanju’s brilliant batting, Chennai maintained its hold on the entire match. After the end of the match, Sanju Samson was awarded the title of ‘Player of the Match’ for his match-winning innings. With this victory, Chennai has further strengthened its position in the points table.
