Even after the deal between America and Iran, the tension between the two countries has not ended yet. Meanwhile, Tehran has made it clear that they will have control over the Strait of Hormuz. According to Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, the Strait of Hormuz has been under the control of its army for a month. The US has recently attacked Iranian assets around Hormuz. In response, Tehran has also attacked American bases located in Gulf countries.
After the drone attack on a ship in the Strait of Hormuz and attacks on each other by America and Iran, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi clearly said that Hormuz will remain under the control of the Iranian army for a month. In a press conference with his Iraqi counterpart in Baghdad, Abbas Araghchi said that Iran has got control of Hormuz in the MoU signed with America.
To reduce the increasing tension on Hormuz, both the countries will talk in Doha, the capital of Qatar this week. American newspaper Axios on Sunday quoted an American official as saying that both sides have agreed to stop the attacks that have been going on for three days and start talks. The two sides are expected to meet in Qatar’s capital Doha on Tuesday to resolve the dispute over the Strait of Hormuz.
Dispute continues regarding Hormuz
The Strait of Hormuz is an important issue of tension between America and Iran because there is a dispute over the issue of monitoring and charging fees for ships passing through this waterway. Tehran is not ready to back down on the issue of Hormuz, while on the other hand, America says that it will keep the Strait of Hormuz open for ships from all over the world without any fees.
Let us tell you that the Strait of Hormuz is a narrow but important sea route for the whole world connecting the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman. It is one of the busiest oil trade routes in the world. Through this route, oil and gas comes to the rest of the world through ships.
