In the year 2019, filmmaker Karan Johar had announced his much awaited film ‘Takht’. This was a historical film, which was going to be made with a big budget and many big stars. However, this film was closed after some time. Meanwhile, Mahir Pandhi associated with the film has revealed the real reason for the closure of the film. He has also spoken openly about himself.
Why was Takht closed?
In an interview with Mid Day, Mahir told that ‘Takht’ was not a normal film because this film was the dream project of Karan Johar’s father Yash Johar. When a historical film is made, its facts cannot be changed. But the situation changed with the arrival of Corona. Many big actors were included in the film, but it became difficult to arrange everyone’s dates. For this reason the film could not progress.
Mahir was sad
Apart from this, he said, ‘If Takht is made today, its script will also have to be written afresh because the preferences of the audience have changed. I was almost living that dream. I was invited to parties and the film team made me feel like a part of their family. When this film was not made, it was very difficult for me to accept it. Losing my dream of working in a Dharma Productions film was no less than a big shock for me.

Film team and budget
Let us tell you that the story of the film was on the fight for power of the Mughal Empire, in which the struggle for the throne during the rule of Shahjahan was going to be shown. The fight between Dara Shikoh and Aurangzeb would have been seen in the film. Whereas Anil Kapoor was going to play the role of ‘Shahjahan’, Ranveer Singh ‘Dara Shikoh’, Vicky Kaushal ‘Aurangzeb’, Kareena Kapoor Khan ‘Jahanara Begum’, Bhumi Pednekar ‘Roshanara Begum’, Alia Bhatt ‘Dilras Bano Begum’ and Jhanvi Kapoor ‘Nadira Bano Begum’. According to media reports, the budget of the film was Rs 250 crore, the shooting of which was to start in 2020 and it was to be released in 2021.
