The captain of Mumbai Indians has changed once again in the match against Punjab Kings. Jasprit Bumrah is captaining the MI team and this is the third consecutive match in which Hardik Pandya is not playing. Suryakumar Yadav is also out of the match against Punjab, who became a father just a few days ago. Bumrah has become the 10th captain of Mumbai in the history of IPL.
At the time of toss in the match against Punjab Kings, Jasprit Bumrah came out as the representative of MI team. At the time of the toss, Bumrah told that becoming the captain of Mumbai Indians will be a new challenge.
I never thought – Jasprit Bumrah
On becoming the captain of Mumbai Indians, Jasprit Bumrah said, “It feels good to become the captain. I joined the Mumbai Indians team at the age of 19. I never thought that before getting the captaincy of MI, I would have got the experience of captaining the Indian Test team.”
Bumrah further said, “It is a fun experience to be here. You have to contribute in every possible way while thinking about everyone. This is a new challenge and I like this responsibility.”

Till now, in the 19 year history, a total of 10 players have captained Mumbai Indians. Sachin Tendulkar, Rohit Sharma, Harbhajan Singh, Shaun Pollock, Ricky Ponting, Dwayne Bravo, Kieron Pollard, Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya and now Jasprit Bumrah is the 10th player to captain Mumbai. These cricketers have definitely captained Mumbai Indians in at least one match at one time or the other.
