Addressing an election rally in Kerala on Wednesday, senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M)-led Left Democratic Front (LDF) and the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) are just two masks worn by the same political party, which is a rival in the state but allies elsewhere.
Singh also mentioned Malayalam films, including Basil Joseph’s ‘Poneman’ and Mammootty’s famous ‘Brahmayugam’, during his speeches in Paravur and Negumangad assembly constituencies of Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram. He had reached two constituencies of Kerala for election related public meetings.
Referring to the Hindi superhero serial starring Mukesh Khanna, the Defense Minister said that just as Pandit Gangadhar was the second form of hero Shaktiman, in the same way the United Democratic Front (UDF) and the Left Democratic Front (LDF) are similar. Singh also mentioned the film ‘Brahmayugam’ starring superstar Mammootty.
He said that everyone in Kerala would have seen the movie ‘Brahmayugam’ and people would turn towards Satyayugam, indicating that BJP would come to power in the state.
The Defense Minister referred to the film ‘Poneman’ in the context of state-sponsored gold smuggling in 2020 and claimed that people close to Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan were involved in it. He also mentioned the film ‘The Kerala Story’ and said that the story of Kerala should not be about what is shown in the film.
“It should be about development, progress, prosperity and peace,” Singh said. Voting for the assembly elections in Kerala will be held on April 9.
