MP Private University: The path to opening a private university in Madhya Pradesh has become easier than before. The state government has passed the amendment bill in the assembly making changes in the rules related to the establishment of private universities. The government says that the purpose of the new change is to increase investment in the field of higher education in the state and to increase the number of new universities. At the same time, it was also clarified by the government that new rules have been made, but there will be no compromise on the quality of education.
Now university can be started in MP even on less land
After the amended law, the amount of land required earlier to establish a private university will no longer be there. The government has eased the land related conditions, so that more institutions can invest in the field of higher education. However, the university will have to comply with the required academic resources and regulatory standards. According to the government, at least 10 hectares of land will be sufficient to start a private university. Earlier, 20 hectares of land was required for this. Apart from this, the university operator will have to deposit 2500 square meters of built up area and an amount of Rs 5 crore, so that in case of any default, the interest of the students can be ensured. However, the government has also said that no relaxation has been given in the resources required for UGC and related professional courses. It will also be mandatory to follow the standards prescribed for medical or other special universities.
Government’s argument regarding private university
The state government says that due to excess land, heavy investment and other stringent conditions, many institutions were not able to establish private universities. But now by simplifying the rules, investment in the education sector will increase and new universities will open in the state. Higher Education Minister Inder Singh Parmar said in the Assembly that the amendment will not affect the quality of the university. He said that such provisions already exist in the law, under which rules can be made if needed and the interests of the students will be protected.

Recruitment will also be done on vacant posts
During the discussion in the monsoon session of MP Assembly, the Higher Education Minister said that the process of filling the vacant teachers and other posts in the universities of the state is going on. Where regular appointments are taking time, professors are being appointed on deputation basis, so that studies are not affected. He also said that the admission process in all the colleges of the state will be completed by July 31, and the universities have been instructed to strictly follow the academic calendar, so that the sessions and examinations can be conducted on time.
Preparation to increase investment in education sector
The state government believes that after the implementation of the amended rules, the number of new private universities will increase in the state. This will increase competition in the field of higher education. In such a situation, students will get the opportunity to study in more institutions and the higher education structure of the state will also be strengthened.
