Niti Aayog CEO: The Central Government has appointed 1989 batch IAS officer Anurag Jain as the new Chief Executive Officer of NITI Aayog. Anurag Jain has been appointed for two years.

According to the order issued by the government, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of 1989 batch Madhya Pradesh cadre IAS officer Anurag Jain as the Chief Executive Officer i.e. CEO of NITI Aayog. The appointment will be effective from the date of assuming charge of Anurag Jain. He will initially hold this post for the duration of his extension. Even after this, his total tenure will be two years or till further orders, whichever is earlier.

The name was being discussed for many days
There was a discussion going on in the name of Anurag Jain for the last several days that he will get another extension as Chief Secretary. Although he was scheduled to retire on 31 August 2025, the Central Government gave him an extension of exactly one year. So now once again he has been made the executive officer of NITI Aayog and has been given an extension of two years.
Who is Anurag Jain?
Anurag Jain is a senior IAS officer and has vast experience in administration, infrastructure and implementing government schemes. During his tenure, he will play an important role in taking forward the work of Miti Aayog and the development plans of the government.

Let us tell you that Anurag Jain became the Chief Secretary of Madhya Pradesh in October 2024. Before this, he has also worked as Secretary in the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways in the Central Government and Joint Secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO). Now he will take charge of NITI Aayog, his long experience of administrative service will also be useful in the work of NITI Aayog. He is an IAS officer of 1989 who was selected through direct recruitment.
