Arshdeep Singh is very active on social media and keeps sharing reels/memes etc. Even before the Punjab Kings vs Mumbai Indians match, he shared a video on a story, in which he was seen making racial remarks on Tilak Verma. Of course it was a joke between two friends, but people got angry over it and started criticizing Arshdeep.
Punjab Kings vs Mumbai Indians match was played on Thursday in Dharamshala, in which Tilak Verma played a match-winning inning of 75 runs. The viral video is from before the match, when Arshdeep Singh was sitting with Mumbai Indians players Naman Dheer. When Tilak Verma was passing by him, Arshdeep called him to himself saying ‘Oye darkness’.
Arshdeep made racist remarks on Tilak
Arshdeep did not stop here. When Tilak came to him he asked, “Did you not apply sunscreen?” Then Tilak tells the name of a company with a light smile and says that he has established it. Then Arshdeep points towards Naman Dheer and says that this is real light, and this (towards Tilak Verma) is fake light.”

Honestly, this is ridiculous. Arshdeep Singh is clearly mocking Tilak Varma in this video.
One day this kind of behavior on social media is going to put him in a really tough spot. Yuzi Chahal is the perfect example of how quickly things can backfire. 😬 pic.twitter.com/FxB4EADF4E— Vipin Tiwari (@Vipintiwari952) May 14, 2026
It is clearly visible from the video that Arshdeep was making fun of Tilak Verma’s complexion, he also shared this video. But people got angry over this. One user wrote on

Seeing how Tilak Varma reacted, Arshdeep Singh needs to stop this nonsense. Harassment in the name of “fun” is not okay. pic.twitter.com/cKfPVzf2gN

Another user wrote, “Arshdeep Singh should stop this nonsense. It is not right at all to harass someone in the name of a joke.”
Arshdeep Singh looked straight at Tilak Varma and said:
“Hey Andhere, have you applied sunscreen?”
The pain and discomfort on Tilak’s face said it all, He was visibly hurt and NOT impressed at all.
How can a “joke” cut so deep? This wasn’t banter, it was pure racial shade 😔 pic.twitter.com/86BbYv8wI9

One user wrote, “Arshdeep Singh looked directly at Tilak Verma and said, ‘Oye darkness, didn’t apply sunscreen.’ The pain and restlessness visible on Tilak’s face told everything. He was hurt and not at all happy about this. This was not a joke, but a complete racial taunt.”
