During Operation Sindoor, Pakistan had made many false claims regarding the Rafale fighter planes of the Indian Air Force. Now Pakistan’s claims have been exposed. A recent government document of the Indian Air Force does not indicate that any Indian Rafale fighter jet was destroyed during this operation.
In fact, the Indian Air Force has issued an RFP (Request for Proposal) i.e. tender related to the maintenance and operational support of the Rafale fleet for the French company Dassault Aviation and its associated partners. The document clearly states that the Indian Air Force is operating 36 Rafale fighter aircraft and bridge support is required for these aircraft for a period of five months.
36 Rafale aircraft mentioned in the document
According to the document, the Indian Air Force has said in the proposal sent to France’s Safran Aircraft Engines that maintenance and spare support should be arranged for the 36 Rafale aircraft purchased under the 2016 inter-governmental agreement. The document also mentions that the flight hours have been calculated keeping in mind the operation of all 36 Rafale aircraft during the proposed bridge support contract.
The RFP states that a total of 2250 flying hours has been estimated based on the operation of 36 aircraft for a period of five months. This calculation has been done keeping in mind 36 aircraft. Defense experts say that if any Rafale aircraft had been damaged and was no longer part of the fleet, then in such a situation the number of aircraft could have appeared different in the planning of maintenance and flying hours.
Pakistan had falsely claimed to have shot down three Rafales
It is noteworthy that during Operation Sindoor, Pakistan had claimed that it had shot down three Rafale fighter planes of the Indian Air Force. However, the Indian Government and the Indian Air Force never confirmed this claim of Pakistan.
