How is the price of petrol and diesel decided?

- Also, crude oil is refined to make it usable. The expenses incurred on this also determine the prices of petrol and diesel. The cost of refining generally depends on the quality of the crude oil and the capacity of the refinery.
- India imports large quantities of crude oil, which is purchased in dollars. In such a situation, if the rupee weakens against the dollar, then the cost of importing crude oil increases. This affects consumers also.
