- Improvement in functioning of NTA, digital infrastructure will increase.
The discussion about major changes regarding the country’s major entrance examinations JEE Main and NEET has intensified. After the recent paper leak controversy, the central government is considering a new model to improve the examination system and strengthen the security. Under this proposal, there is a possibility of implementing a unified national entrance examination for engineering and medical admission.
Thoughts on One Nation One Exam System
According to sources, the government is considering working on the “One Nation One Exam” model, in which both JEE and NEET exams can be included in a common framework. Under this system, a single national level exam will be conducted, but different subject sections will be kept according to the stream of the students. Maths for engineering candidates and Biology for medical candidates can be included in separate sections, while Physics and Chemistry will be common for both.
The main objective of this proposal is said to be to make the examination process more transparent, secure and technically strong. In view of the incidents of paper leaks and irregularities in recent years, the government is working towards making major reforms in the examination system.
This idea was expressed by former ISRO chief. It is said to be related to the recommendations of the High Level Committee headed by Radhakrishnan. This committee was formed after the NEET-UG 2024 controversy, so that suggestions could be given for improvements in the national level examinations.

NTA’s role and possible changes
Questions have also been raised on the functioning of NTA. Now the government is considering further strengthening the examination conduct system, improving digital infrastructure and reducing dependence on external agencies.
NEET-UG 2026 controversy
NEET-UG 2026 exam was held on May 3, in which more than 22 lakh students appeared. But the controversy increased after allegations of paper leak came to light after the examination. Due to this, the examination was canceled and it has been decided to conduct the examination again on June 21. The paper leak case is being investigated by the CBI. The investigating agencies are thoroughly investigating the network and examination related matters in various states. This incident has raised serious questions on the credibility of the country’s examination system.
