Income of Top Cities in India: There are many big and small cities in India, each city has its own capacity to spend and earn. For example, in big cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, people get good salaries. So in such a situation, the expenses of the people in these cities are also according to their income. Recently a report of Urban India has also come out regarding this. In which it is told which city is the most expensive and which city is at the forefront in earning.
What came in the new report?
In fact, recently Times of India has brought out a report by data analytics company PRICE and Tata Sons. In which data related to these cities is given. According to ‘Many Urban Indias’, the country’s six big cities Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Chennai and Hyderabad together account for 46% of India’s total consumption. The share of these cities in the total consumption in urban areas is about two-thirds.

Billions are spent on transport in Delhi-NCR
Delhi-NCR has emerged as the largest consumer market in the country. The annual consumption here is about 126 billion dollars. The main reason for this is the large population here. About 75 lakh families live in Delhi-NCR. Households in Delhi-NCR spend more than $33 billion every year on transport alone.
Condition of Mumbai- Pune
So there are about 46 lakh families in Mumbai. This expenditure is more than the entire consumer market of cities like Pune or Ahmedabad. The report also states that less than 20% of India’s population lives in the top 100 cities of the country, but these cities earn more than one-third of the country’s income and account for 31% of the total consumption.
In this report, these cities have been divided into four different groups. Which are as follows:
- Big Six: Cities with population of more than 1 crore, whose average annual income will be around Rs 23 lakh.
- Boomtowns: Cities like Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Surat and Pune, whose average income will be Rs 17 lakh.
- Breakout Cities: Cities with population of 15 to 25 lakh, whose average income will be Rs 14 lakh.
- Frontier Cities: Cities with population of 5 to 15 lakh, whose average income will be Rs 12 lakh.

middle class family
According to this report, in the last 10 years, the share of middle class families earning Rs 6 lakh to Rs 36 lakh annually has increased from 29% to 53%. This may increase to 60% by 2030. Hyderabad is at the forefront in this matter.
high income families
At the same time, the share of high-income families earning more than Rs 36 lakh annually has also increased from 3% to 12%. By the year 2030, this figure may reach around 20%. Currently, Delhi, Mumbai and Pune are ahead in this category, while the number of high-income and middle-income families is growing fastest in cities like Raipur, Thoothukudi and Kannur.
This report also estimates that the number of families with an annual income of less than Rs 1.5 lakh will almost disappear in the top 100 cities by 2030 and their share is likely to reduce to just 0.3%.
