During the investigation of on-screen marking, the government has removed the chairman and secretary of the board, Rahul Singh and Himanshu Gupta. The Central Government has constituted this investigation committee on Tuesday under the chairmanship of retired IAS officer S Radha Chauhan. What will the committee investigate?
Retired IAS officer S Radha Chauhan has been assigned the task of investigating the issues related to procurement of services for the CBSE’s OMS system. Their committee has been asked to submit its report to DoPT within 1 month. Chauhan currently serves as the Chairman of CBC which works on standardizing civil services training and capacity building initiatives across the country.
Who is IAS officer S Radha Chauhan?
According to the report, S Radha Chauhan is a 1988 batch officer of Uttar Pradesh cadre and has retired from the post of Secretary, Department of Personnel and Training in 2025. S Radha Chauhan has completed her law studies. She has also done work in different fields including women’s education, health, child development, rural development, urban development and skill development. According to a report, she has worked in several administrative positions including Commissioner of Ghaziabad, Chief Executive Officer of Noida Authority, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Greater Noida and Additional Commissioner and District Magistrate in Bulandshahr, Pilibhit, Agra and Meerut. Apart from this, according to reports, Radha Chauhan has also worked as True Secretary in the Department of School Education and Literacy under the Ministry of Human Resource Development between 2011 and 2015. He later served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer in charge of National Governance.

What is CBSE’s on-screen marking controversy?
The controversy over CBSE’s on-screen marking system came to light when glitches were found in the new system designed to evaluate students’ answer sheets. After this, students and parents raised questions regarding the on-screen marking system of CBSE. Due to irregularities in on-screen marking, marks of many students were also affected, due to which this matter came into discussion and the demand for investigation also intensified.
