LPG Rate Today on July 16: Today on Thursday, the prices of 14.2 kg domestic LPG remained stable across the country. Today the price of domestic LPG in the national capital Delhi remains stable at Rs 942 per cylinder and in Ghaziabad/Noida the price remains stable at Rs 939.50 per cylinder.

The prices of domestic LPG have not changed this entire month. However, in view of the softening of crude oil prices in the international market, on July 1, government oil companies (OMCs) had reduced the prices of commercial cylinders by Rs 183.50. After this cut, the price of 19 kg commercial cylinder in Delhi came down to Rs 2930.

Will prices rise again?

There are fears that the prices of LPG gas cylinders will increase again in the country because due to the renewed military attacks between America and Iran and the renewed blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, the prices of crude oil in the international market have increased rapidly to beyond $ 86 per barrel. Due to this surge in prices, the prices of LPG and CNG are in danger. The Petroleum Ministry is keeping an eye on this situation.

Freedom from heavy cylinders

In this atmosphere of tension, another new news is coming out regarding LPG cylinders and that is that soon 10 kg lightweight composite or fiberglass cylinders will be sold in the market. These will be up to 50% lighter than traditional cylinders. This gas cylinder being offered by HPCL has been named HP Navya.

This The ordering process will be the same as purchasing other items on the Quick Commerce platform. Customers can log in to Instamart and choose a 10-kg HP Navya composite cylinder or a 5-kg metal LPG cylinder, add it to their cart and place the order. However, LPG delivery will not be like a normal grocery order.

LPG on Instamart: The scope of quick commerce sector is increasing rapidly in India. In today’s time, whenever we need anything, we order it immediately and the goods reach home within minutes. Now the day is not far when if we suddenly run out of gas while cooking in the kitchen, we will also get the option to order LPG cylinder online.

To turn this into reality, the country’s leading government oil company HPCL (Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited) and quick commerce platform Swiggy Instamart have joined hands. Both have announced to start the country’s first on-demand Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) cylinder delivery service. Through this, just as you order everyday items and grocery items online, in the future you will also be able to order LPG gas cylinders on-demand through the Swiggy Instamart app.

No need to worry about already having a connection

The biggest feature of this service is that it is not necessary for the customers to already have a domestic LPG connection to purchase a new cylinder.
When ordered for the first time, it will be considered as purchase of a new cylinder, in which some documents will be required for ID proof. Customers can request a refill as part of the subsequent order and the empty cylinder will be collected at the time of delivery.

Will be able to check the gas level in the cylinder

HPCL is preparing to launch ‘HP Navya’ under the partnership with Swiggy Instamart. This is a next generation 10 kg composite LPG cylinder, whose body will be transparent and 50% lighter than conventional LPG cylinders. In this you will be able to check from time to time what is the level of gas in the cylinder. Keeping in mind the different needs of the customers, 5 kg standard metal LPG cylinder will also be made available on the platform. This will be of great convenience to students, working people and small families, who generally do not have any formal gas connection.

Regarding this, Instamart CEO Amitesh Jha said, “Instamart has expanded its scope of service beyond grocery. In collaboration with HPCL, we are also providing this facility for an essential service at home and are making LPG available on Instamart following the standards of safety and trust.

What will be the pattern of delivery?

Orders placed through Instamart will be fulfilled by HPCL’s existing network of authorized distributors, while delivery will be done by the distributor’s trained staff as per safety and regulatory norms. This service has just been started as a pilot project in some selected areas of Bengaluru. It is expected to be started in other cities of the country soon.

LPG News: Last time i.e. in February, when the war between US and Iran started, India was also troubled by the shortage of oil and gas. When there was a ceasefire between the two countries, the public and the government heaved a sigh of relief. But now when this war has started once again between the two countries, once again the situation has become the same. In such circumstances, LPG is being considered the biggest threat, let us know why?

Situation regarding LPG becomes serious
In fact, India imports most of its LPG requirement from outside, out of which 90 percent of the LPG comes to India through the Strait of Hormuz. In such a situation, the biggest danger is due to gas shortage. In the months of March, April and May, India saw a huge shortage of gas, people had to wait for a month for a cylinder and also had to stand in long queues. In such a situation, if the sea route is disrupted again due to war, the supply of domestic gas cylinders may be affected. Not only this, prices may also increase.

Also read: Petrol-Diesel Price: Government in tension due to Hormuz crisis, will petrol-diesel become expensive or will the government reduce the tax?

Government oil companies incurred losses
Just as oil companies have suffered losses due to not being able to increase the prices of petrol and diesel, similarly oil companies have also suffered huge losses due to gas. According to government data, by June 2026, government oil companies were incurring a loss of Rs 500 to Rs 700 on every domestic LPG cylinder. If the prices increase again in the international market, the government will have only two options: either increase the subsidy or make the cylinders costlier.

There is a need for strategic reserves
The country needs to formulate a strategy to avoid this crisis situation. Instead of just buying oil and using it daily, it would be better to keep its stock in the country. At present, India has a strategic petroleum reserve of 5.33 million metric tons, which can meet the needs of only 9.5 days. Whereas IEA recommends keeping strategic reserves of about 90 days.

When two countries of the world fight among themselves, the country that burns the most in the fire is the one which is neither a friend nor an enemy. He is just doing his work. During the America-Iran war, India was seen standing in exactly the same situation. Neither were we parties to the war, nor did we attack anyone. But this war has caused serious damage to life and property of India. In the explainer, let us understand what India lost in the Middle East War…

India’s loss that will never be healed

During the US-Iran war, Indian sailors working in the Strait of Hormuz and the Persian Gulf had to pay a heavy price. These were the people who worked on oil tankers and shipping ships. They neither had anything to do with the war, nor were they part of any army. But when missiles were fired and ships were targeted in the Hormuz area, these sailors were the most vulnerable.

Event

death toll

Attacks on ships near the Strait of Hormuz

22 Indian sailors died

Deaths due to ship fires and sinking

8 Indian sailors

total indian deaths

30 Indian citizens

These were the people who had boarded foreign ships to feed their families. These sailors from Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh were never able to return to their homes. The Indian government raised this issue strongly with both Iran and the United States and made diplomatic efforts to bring back the bodies of the deceased.

Those Indian laborers who remained stranded in Gulf countries

As soon as the war started, the lives of millions of Indian migrant laborers living in Gulf countries like UAE, Qatar, Oman and Saudi Arabia were in danger. These people were not directly in the war zone, but when Hormuz was closed and air travel was banned, they were trapped in their homes. Although there were no confirmed reports of large-scale deaths of people from here, the risk to life remained constant. The Indian government evacuated thousands of Indians under ‘Operation Hormuz Safety’.

India’s economy burns in the fire of oil prices

According to the report of the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI), the economic impact of this war on India was at three levels:

1. Rise in oil prices

After the start of the war, the price of crude oil jumped from $ 82 per barrel to more than $ 100 per barrel. India imports 85% of its crude oil needs, a large part of which comes via the Strait of Hormuz. When the Strait of Hormuz was closed, the oil supply was severely affected. According to IFPRI:

area of influence

Estimated damage (IFPRI report)

India’s GDP decline

Reduction from 0.8% to 1.2%

Decline in domestic income

Fall of about 1.5%

Increase in Consumer Price Index (CPI)

Additional inflation from 1.8% to 2.5%

India bore the economic fire of this war to some extent, but it had to pay a price:

India’s crude oil import bill increased by about 25-30% compared to before the war.

Retail prices of petrol and diesel increased by Rs 8-12 per liter.

The price of LPG cylinder increased by Rs 150-200, which directly affected the common kitchen.

India had to buy oil from alternative oil importers like Russia, Iraq and Saudi Arabia, but due to long route and high freight, there was an additional burden of 5-7 dollars per barrel.

Shipping freight alone increased by 40–50%, as ships had to take longer routes to avoid Hormuz.

There was increased pressure on India’s foreign exchange reserves, which decreased by about 15-20 billion dollars during the war.

2. Blockage of business routes

The Institute of South Asian Studies (ISAS) of the National University of Singapore published a paper on the impact of this entire conflict on India. According to:

Area

impact estimation

trade deficit

Expected to increase to 25-30 billion dollars

Current Account Deficit (CAD)

GDP is expected to increase from 1.2% to 2.5%.

foreign exchange reserves

Fall to 20-25 billion dollars

rupee exchange rate

2-3% additional decline against the dollar

3. Global inflation pressure

A research paper published in the International Journal of Economics and Financial Management (IJEFM) examined in depth the impact of this war on India. According to:

Pressure on fiscal deficit: The government had to cut excise duty to provide relief to consumers from rising oil prices. Due to this, there is an estimated reduction of about Rs 1 lakh crore in government revenue.

Fertilizer Crisis and Food Security: India imports 60% of its DAP fertilizer requirement and entire potash. Due to the war, fertilizer prices increased by 66%, which directly affected the cost of Kharif and Rabi crops.

Impact on stock market: A huge fall was seen in Sensex and Nifty amid the fear of war and closure of Hormuz. In a single week, the Sensex had fallen by almost 3,000 points, due to which investors’ wealth worth crores of rupees was wiped out.

Did India pass this test?

According to the report of Times of India, India was successful to some extent in dealing with this crisis. The government increased purchases of cheap oil from Russia and Iraq, used strategic oil reserves and, when necessary, resorted to the dollar-rupee swap mechanism. The report also warns that if the war continues for a long time, combined with El Nino, it could prove to be a double whammy for India.

This war may have been fought thousands of miles away, but its heat reached every home in India. The 30 sailors who could not return to their families are its biggest cost. The economic shocks that hit the pockets of the common man are a reminder that the flames of fire in any corner of the world do not leave anyone untouched in today’s connected era.

LPG transfer rules changed

If you are planning to shift to a new house or city, then it is important for you to know that the government has recently made changes in the rules of LPG transfer. If you change your house or city, you will have to inform this to your gas agency. If your new location falls in the service area of the old agency, then there is no question of transferring the connection. You just have to update your new address by providing address proof.

If your house falls in the area of another agency, the old distributor will issue you an e-CTA (Electronic Customer Transfer Advice) code, which will be valid for 3 months. In this you do not need to deposit your cylinder or regulator, you can take it with you to your new address.

What are the rules when going to another city?

If you are planning to go to another city, then you will have to go to your existing distributor and deposit your cylinder and regulator. The agency will issue you a Termination Voucher (TV) and will refund the entire security deposited earlier. After going to a new city, you can apply for a new connection by showing this termination voucher.

However, if needed, the rates of both domestic and commercial gas cylinders can be changed even in the middle of the month. Therefore, before booking the cylinder, please check the latest price.

How to know the rate of your city sitting at home?
If you want to know the exact LPG rate of your city, then you can see the latest price by visiting the official website of Indian Oil, Bharat Petroleum or Hindustan Petroleum. There the updated rates are given according to each city. At present, on July 10, consumers have not got any relief in prices.

Will the prices of gas cylinders increase?

Global financial markets witnessed volatility on Wednesday after US President Donald Trump raised questions on the temporary ceasefire with Iran. There was a sharp increase in oil prices. The price of Brent crude increased by about 5.2% to $ 78.02 per barrel and even crossed the level of $ 80 per barrel for some time during trading. Any major change in the benchmark prices of crude oil and LPG in the international market impacts the domestic fuel prices in India.

The prices of commercial gas are reviewed from time to time by government oil companies (IOCL, HPCL, BPCL). If pressure on prices increases internationally, the relief of Rs 183.50 on July 1 may be withdrawn in the next review. As far as domestic gas is concerned, the government tries to keep it stable in every way, but if the prices of crude oil and under-recovery keep increasing, then the government is forced to increase its prices too.

NATO summit was going on in Ankara, the capital of Turkey on 8 July 2026. In this, the statement of US President Donald Trump shook the markets of the whole world. Trump said, ‘The ceasefire agreement with Iran has now completely ended. I don’t want to make any deal with Iran now. Trump also said in his statement that America had launched strong attacks on Iran last night and targeted dangerous people. Trump’s statement sent oil and gas prices soaring and bombs started falling on ships in the Strait of Hormuz. So now will oil and gas become expensive in India too?

Donald Trump’s statement will have 5 big impacts, which will create turmoil in India…

First effect: immediate rise in oil prices

Immediately after this statement of Trump, there was a huge jump in the prices of crude oil in the international market. The price of Brent crude oil jumped by more than 5 percent and crossed $ 78 per barrel. WTI crude also reached $74 per barrel. Experts say that if this tension continues for a long time and the Strait of Hormuz is completely closed, then crude oil prices may go up to $ 85 to $ 90 per barrel.

It is very important to understand one thing here that India imports about 90 percent of its crude oil requirement. That means if oil becomes expensive in the world, then India has to pay more money to buy it. When India has to pay more for oil, it directly impacts our pockets. From petrol-diesel to CNG and even the prices of daily essentials increase. As was seen in the past days. The price of petrol increased by Rs 15 and the fight for the cylinder started.

Second effect: huge fall in the Indian stock market

The effect of Trump’s announcement was immediately visible on the Indian stock market. The Sensex fell by more than 1,600 points, while the Nifty fell by more than 2 percent. The reasons for this decline were clear:

Investors’ confidence was shattered as hopes for peace with Iran were dashed.

There was a jump in the prices of crude oil.

Pressure on the rupee means that due to oil becoming expensive, India has to buy more dollars, due to which the rupee becomes weak.

According to senior market analyst Tilokchand Gaglani, if the Strait of Hormuz is closed, crude can go up to $ 85-90 per barrel. He also said that it will not have a huge impact on India, because India has diversified its sourcing and has created strategic reserves.

Third effect: danger of rising inflation

In May 2026, when the Iran war was at its peak, wholesale inflation (WPI) in India increased from 2.2% in February 2026 to 9.7%. This means that things had become expensive by 9.7 percent in bulk, which was a big shock for the common man.

Now that Trump has again increased the tension, experts fear that if this situation continues for a long time, India’s crude import basket may cross $ 75 per barrel. This will increase the import bill, increase inflation, worsen the current account deficit and put pressure on the profits of companies. However, India’s diversified sourcing can reduce these shocks to some extent.

Fourth effect: increasing pressure on the rupee

When crude oil becomes expensive, India needs more dollars to buy it. This increases the demand for dollars and weakens the rupee. A weak rupee means that everything coming from abroad becomes expensive, from mobile phones to machinery. Besides, the pockets of students studying abroad and those going on foreign trips also become loose.

Fifth effect: When and by how much will the prices of petrol, diesel and CNG increase?

This is the biggest question which is in the mind of every common man…

Experts say that prices will increase, but not immediately. When the Iran war started in May 2026, the government oil companies had made petrol and diesel expensive by Rs 3 per liter and CNG by Rs 2 per kg. At that time CNG was priced at Rs 79.09 per kg in Delhi, Rs 80.70 in Noida, Rs 84.12 in Gurugram and Rs 88.44 in Ajmer. CNG became Rs 84 per kg in Mumbai.

Right now, one or two attacks will not increase prices immediately, but if the tension continues for a long time, shipping from Hormuz stops or global LNG prices remain high for a long time, then oil and gas will become expensive in India too.

Foreign affairs expert and JNU professor Dr. Rajan Kumar says that oil prices in India will depend on how expensive crude oil is. If crude remains at $75-78, prices may increase in 2-4 weeks. If Hormuz is closed and crude reaches $85-90, the increase could be higher.

There was no change in the prices of petrol, diesel and CNG till the morning of 8 July 2026. But it is worth noting that oil prices have already reached $75 per barrel. This was very low till a few weeks ago.

How much preparation has India done to deal with these situations?

This answer is in two parts – good news and worrying news.

Good news: India stocked up heavily on oil

By the end of June 2026, India had total crude oil reserves of 104 million barrels, which is the highest level in a year. This includes strategic petroleum reserves (SPR), commercial stocks and refinery stocks.

Talking about strategic petroleum reserves, India has 39 million barrel capacity. That means a total of 39 million barrels of oil can be stored in the three strategic reserves – Visakhapatnam, Mangaluru and Padur. India gets import cover of about 9.5 days from these strategic reserves. That means, if for some reason the oil supply stops completely, the country’s needs can be met for 9.5 days from these reserves.

Apart from this, government oil companies have reserves of crude oil and petroleum products, which is equal to 64.5 days of imports. According to the data of the Petroleum Ministry, overall India has reserves of crude and petroleum products equal to about 74 days of imports.

Worrying news: Reserves are less than China

India’s strategic reserves are much less than Asia’s second largest energy consumer, China. China has such large reserves that it can reduce crude imports. The Iran War exposed India’s limited strategic oil storage capacity. For this reason, the government has asked ONGC to create a new strategic reserve of Rs 15,000 crore in Mangaluru.

The central government is working on a plan to create new reserves in Chandikhol, Bina, Bikaner and increase capacity in Mangaluru-Padur. On completion of these projects, the strategic storage capacity will increase to equal to 40 days of imports.

LPG Price Today on July 7: Today, there has been no change in the prices of 14.2 kg domestic LPG across the country. However, on July 1, the price of 19 kg commercial gas cylinder was drastically reduced by Rs 183.50. Due to the war between America and Iran and tension in West Asia, its price had crossed 3100. At the same time, the last cut in the prices of domestic gas cylinders used by the general public was made in June. During that time the rates were reduced to Rs 29. Since then the prices have remained stable.

Saudi Arabia made a big announcement

Saudi Arabia has started selling crude oil at lower prices to its buyers in Asia because global supply has increased due to the normalization of the situation in the Strait of Hormuz and competition among sellers has also increased.

Quoting the price list released on Monday, Bloomberg said in its report, Saudi Arabia’s state oil company Saudi Aramco will cut the price of ‘Arab Light’ oil by $ 11 per barrel for the next month. This price will be $1.50 less than the regional benchmark. This is the first time since 2000 that such a huge reduction in prices has been made in a single month.

Companies compete to sell oil

After the 60-day interim agreement between America and Iran, the supply of oil through the Strait of Hormuz has increased. Due to this, amidst increasing pressure on the oil market, producers are forced to reduce their prices. If crude oil prices remain at such low levels in the international market for a long time, then it is possible that domestic oil companies may also reduce the prices of 14.2 kg cylinders in August.

LPG News: There is currently a ceasefire between Iran and the US. But the impact of this war that lasted for several months has not diminished even now. Due to this war, there was a severe shortage of oil and gas in India. But now the Indian government has waited to deal with it. Because now India does not need to depend only on Gulf countries for LPG. Let us tell you why this is so?

LPG will be imported from US
In fact, now government oil companies are planning to double the annual import of LPG from America to about 22 lakh tonnes. Besides, options for purchasing LPG from new countries like Algeria are also being explored, so that there is not much dependence on any one region. A one-year agreement was signed between India and America in November 2025. Under which, in 2026, India agreed to buy about 10% of its annual LPG requirement from America.

What did the officials say?
Speaking to TOI, a senior executive of an oil company said that during the war in the Middle East, the availability of crude oil was not a major problem, but the supply of LPG had become a challenge. At such a time, America played an important role in meeting India’s needs by providing extra gas. America has a huge capacity to export LPG. Therefore, in future, India is working towards making its supply secure and diverse by purchasing more gas from there.

Let us tell you that till now India has been importing a major part of its needs from the countries of the Middle East. But the supply of LPG was most affected due to the closure of the Strait of Hormuz in March. Availability of LPG had become more difficult than crude oil. At such a time, America emerged as one of the largest LPG suppliers to India. Apart from this, India also purchased LPG from Argentina, Nigeria and Malaysia.
