The auction for Telangana T20 League was held at the Princess Convention Center of Ramoji Film City. This is an important milestone in the journey of this premier franchise-based T20 league of Telangana. With the Hyderabad Cricket Association, franchise teams started building their teams by selecting the best cricket talent from the state in Icon, A+ and A categories from a pool of over 1300 registered cricketers.
The auction brought together international stars, established domestic level players and promising cricketers from the districts. Tilak Verma became the most expensive player in this Telangana T20 League. Tilak Verma was selected in the team by Medak Falcons for Rs 33 lakh.
Tilak Verma is one of the best players in the T20 league. At present, Tilak Verma has been appointed as the vice-captain of the Indian team. With the presence of Tilak Verma, there will be a tremendous boost in the Telangana T20 League.
After Tilak Verma, Mohammed Siraj was also bought by Warangal Warriors for the Telangana T20 League. A bid of Rs 14 lakh was made on Mohammad Siraj in the auction. At the same time, CV Milind was also the most expensive uncapped player. Whom Anvita Khammam Aces bought for Telangana League for Rs 17 lakh.
A total of 160 players were purchased during the auction, out of which nine were icon players. Six A+ players, 30 A category players, eight B category players and 107 players from C-C2 categories are also included in it.
In view of TG20’s special focus on the development of grassroots cricket, it was made mandatory for each franchise to include a minimum of four district level cricketers in its team. Whereas during the tournament it is mandatory to have at least two district players in the playing eleven.
The franchise has spent Rs 4.74 crore during the bidding. Telangana T20 League held the auction for the first season on Sunday. The tournament is starting this month on 21st June.
All the matches of the league are going to be played at Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium, Uppal. A total of 8 franchise teams in the league will play against each other in 32 matches in 21 exciting days.
