‘The doors of dialogue with Pakistan should not be completely closed’, RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat’s reaction on Hosabale’s statement

Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh chief Mohan Bhagwat on Saturday defended the statement of senior RSS functionary Dattatreya Hosabale, in which he had talked about keeping an option open for talks with Pakistan. Bhagwat said that Hosabale had said this in the context of the people of the neighboring country.

On the statement given by Dattatreya Hosabale in an interview to PTI, Bhagwat said that the organization will follow the policy of the central government regarding Pakistan. “But there are many people in Pakistan who believe that the partition of India was wrong and many journalists there praise the RSS and its work,” he said in an interactive session organized here as part of the centenary celebrations of the RSS. There is a large number of people who are against Pakistan and against the two-nation theory and say that it was better to live together.

If Pakistan is to be defeated then the doors of dialogue will have to be kept open – Bhagwat

Bhagwat said that if India has to defeat Pakistan badly in the future, then the people there will have to either be included in India or they will have to be made able to live peacefully in the same country and for this the doors of dialogue will have to be kept open.

He said, ‘We are not like Hitler. This is not our nature or way. Therefore we should keep some way or the other open. We must end injustice and oppression, but we must also preserve what is good.

What did Dattatreya Hosabale say?

RSS General Secretary Dattatreya Hosabale had said that India should not completely close the doors of dialogue with Pakistan. I should always be ready to talk to them. This is why diplomatic relations are maintained. Business continues and visas are granted. These should not be closed. However, he also said that there should be no leniency in the tough stance towards terrorism.
