The path to higher education may now become easier for girl students who have passed 12th in Uttar Pradesh. Various scholarship schemes of the state government and the central government are helping the economically weak and bright girl students to continue their further studies. The objective of these schemes is to encourage daughters to pursue graduation (UG), post graduation (PG) and technical education by providing financial assistance.
UP Post Matric Scholarship
One of the most prominent scholarship schemes of the Uttar Pradesh government is UP Post Matric Scholarship. This scheme is available for students studying from class 11 to PhD level. Under this, along with tuition fees, maintenance allowance is also given to the girl students.
To avail the benefit of this scheme, the annual income of the family of general, OBC and minority category students should be less than Rs 2 lakh. At the same time, the income limit for students belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) category has been fixed at Rs 2.5 lakh.
Kanya Vidyadhan Yojana
Kanya Vidyadhan Yojana of the state government is also considered very beneficial for girl students. Under this scheme, a lump sum financial assistance of Rs 30,000 is provided to the girl students who perform excellently in the 12th board examination.
The objective of this scheme is to encourage meritorious girl students for higher education and reduce financial barriers. Eligible girl students of both UP Board and CBSE boards can avail the benefits of this scheme.
Pragati Scholarship for Technical Education
If a student is taking admission in engineering, pharmacy, polytechnic or other technical courses, then she can also avail the benefits of Pragati Scholarship Scheme. This scheme is operated by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). Under this scheme, financial assistance up to Rs 50,000 per year is provided to selected girl students. Its objective is to increase the participation of girls in technical education.

You can also get benefit from National Scholarship Portal
Apart from the state government schemes, girl students can also apply for various central scholarship schemes through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP). It is a centralized online platform, where many scholarship schemes run by the Central Government are available.
How to apply?
Application for scholarship schemes of UP government can be made online. Interested girl students will have to register by visiting the Uttar Pradesh Scholarship Portal and upload the required documents. At the same time, applications for scholarship schemes of the Central Government can be made through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP).
