Union Public Service Commission has released the complete calendar of examinations for the year 2027. Lakhs of candidates wait for this calendar every year, because it decides the direction of preparation for the whole year. This time too, the Commission has already cleared the dates of Civil Services Examination, NDA, CDS, IES, ISS, CMS and many departmental examinations, so that the candidates can make their plans on time.
The most important thing is that the Civil Services (Preliminary) examination will be held on Sunday, 23 May 2027. After this, the Civil Services (Main) examination will start from Friday, August 20, 2027, which will last for five days. This means that now the candidates have a clear timeline to organize their preparation.
Examination session will start from January
The examination session will start from January 10, 2027 with the Combined Geo-Scientist (Preliminary) Examination. After this, Engineering Services (Preliminary) examination will be conducted on 31st January. Many recruitment and departmental examinations have also been held in February and March, which makes it clear that examination activities will be intense from the beginning of the year.
CISF AC (LDCE) Exam in March
Limited Departmental Competitive Examination of Assistant Commandant (Executive) in Central Industrial Security Force will be held on 14 March 2027. Notification for this will come on 25 November 2026 and applications will be filled till 15 December 2026.
NDA-I and CDS-I in April
The first examination of NDA and CDS will be held on 11 April 2027 for the youth who dream of joining defense services. Notification for both the exams will be released on December 2, 2026 and forms can be filled till December 22.
23 May: Civil Services Preliminary Examination
The Civil Services and Indian Forest Service (Preliminary) examinations will be held on the same day on 23 May 2027. The preliminary examination of Forest Service will also be conducted through Civil Services Preliminary only. The notification for these examinations will come on 13 January 2027 and the last date of application will be 2 February 2027.
Important exams in June-July
Engineering Services (Main) and Indian Economic Service/Indian Statistical Service (IES/ISS) examinations will start from 18 June 2027. Combined Geologist (Main) examination will be held on 19th June. CAPF (Assistant Commandant) exam will be conducted on 4th July and Combined Medical Services (CMS) exam will be conducted on 18th July.
NDA-II and CDS-II in September
The second NDA and CDS exam of the year will be held on 19 September 2027. Notification for this will be issued on 12 May 2027 and applications can be made till 1 June.

Indian Forest Service Main Exam in November
The Indian Forest Service (Main) examination will start from November 21, 2027 and will last for seven days. Whereas Section Officer/Steno (LDCE) examination will be conducted on 18 December 2027.
Change in dates possible
The Commission has also made it clear that the examination dates can be changed as per the circumstances. Therefore, candidates have been advised to keep an eye on the official website from time to time.
This calendar is very important for all those candidates who are planning to appear for any UPSC exam in 2027. Now the dates are in front, so this is the best time to give the right direction to the preparation.
