General Dhiraj Seth: After taking over as the 31st Army Chief of the Indian Army, General Dheeraj Seth gave his first message to the nation. He said that this responsibility is a matter of pride and humility for him. He reiterated his resolve to modernize the army, adopt indigenous technology, better coordination between the three armies and give top priority to the soldiers. For this he also presented his vision ‘VIJAY’.
Took charge as 31st Army Chief
General Dheeraj Seth has taken over as the 31st Army Chief of the Indian Army. He said that assuming the post of the 31st Army Chief of the Indian Army is a matter of both pride and humility for him.
Expressed commitment towards ‘Duty, Honor and Nation First’
He said that he is accepting this responsibility with an unwavering commitment to the principles of ‘Duty, Honor and Nation First’.

Expressed gratitude to Prime Minister and Defense Minister
General Dheeraj Seth expressed his gratitude to the Prime Minister and the Defense Minister and said that they expressed confidence in him and entrusted him with the responsibility of leading the Indian Army. He paid tribute to the brave soldiers who made supreme sacrifice for the country. He said that the courage, dedication to duty and selfless service of the martyrs will always inspire the coming generations. General Dheeraj Seth said that the current security challenges are constantly changing and to deal with them, the modernization of the Army will have to be carried forward with new pace and strong determination.
Aim to create future ready army
He said that the objective is to create such a technology-based and future-ready army, which is capable at every level and can work effectively in many areas simultaneously. He said that he has decided his priorities by taking inspiration from the Defense Minister’s vision of ‘Decade of Transformation’.
‘VIJAY’ vision announced
General Dheeraj Seth said that he has kept all his priorities in an acronym named ‘VIJAY’, in which each letter represents a specific goal.
V means Vigilance and Readiness
He said that V stands for Vigilance and Readiness i.e. to be alert and ready at all times. He said that the Indian Army will constantly keep an eye on the borders and emerging threats and will be fully prepared to face every challenge related to national security.
I means Innovation and Transformation
He said that I stands for Innovation and Transformation i.e. new thinking and change. He said that new solutions will be adopted in the army at both the technical and military doctrine levels. He said that new thinking, working style and capability of the army will become an important part of development. He also said that necessary changes will be implemented rapidly according to the changing battlefield.
J stands for Jointness and Integration.
He said that J means Jointness and Integration i.e. better coordination and integration between the three armies. He said that better coordination and cooperation between the Indian Army, Air Force and Navy will further strengthen the operational capability of the army. He said that this joint strategy will contribute to nation building and help in achieving the goal of Developed India 2047.
A means Aatmanirbharta
He said that A means self-reliance. He said that a self-reliant army will be created by making maximum use of the indigenous technology and capabilities developed in the country. He said that his biggest goal is to develop the ability to win the war on the basis of indigenous solutions.
Y means Yoddha First
He said that the meaning of Y is Yoddha First i.e. young man is first. He said that for him every person, from the newest Agniveer to the most senior ex-serviceman, is a warrior. He said that these warriors are the biggest strength of the Indian Army and their interests will remain the top priority.
Honor given to former army chiefs
General Dheeraj Seth respectfully remembered former Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi and all former Army Chiefs. He said that due to his leadership and vision, the Indian Army has today become a strong, capable and reliable military force. General Dheeraj Seth said that he believes that the guiding principle of ‘VIJAY’ given by the Prime Minister to the armed forces is a strong foundation for the success of the Indian Army. He said that this principle will lead the army to victory in every situation. At the end of his address he said that ‘Jai’ is the only way to reach ‘Vijay’. He concluded his message with the slogan ‘Jai Hind’ and ‘Jai Bharat’.
