Before the West Bengal Assembly elections 2026, political heat has reached its peak in the state. The main opposition party Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is a constant attacker on the ruling Mamata Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress (TMC) government in the state. In this sequence, Union Home Minister Amit Shah has also taken charge of the Bengal elections from Thursday (April 2, 2026). He said that the people of Bengal have completely made up their mind that now the ruling Mamata Banerjee government in the state has to be overthrown.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah reached West Bengal on Thursday (April 2, 2026) for the nomination of BJP candidate and Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari from Bhawanipur Assembly seat. Before the nomination of Suvendu Adhikari in Bhawanipur, Amit Shah held a mega road show in the capital Kolkata. During this, he challenged Trinamool Congress (TMC) and said that I am going to stay in Bengal for the next 15 days for the assembly elections.
Amit Shah did a road show in Kolkata
Union Home Minister Amit Shah addressed the public during the road show in Kolkata. He said that I am going to stay in Bengal for the next 15 days for the assembly elections. During this time, there are going to be many opportunities to interact with all of you. He said, ‘I have especially come for the nomination of Suvendu Adhikari, but I am hearing the same voice everywhere in Bengal – change this government and say goodbye to Mamata.’
Amit Shah said, ‘The people of West Bengal are troubled by the insecurity of women, troubled by the goons of Trinamool Congress (TMC), troubled by the changing demography due to infiltrators and troubled by the corruption happening in the state. The public is demanding that there should be change in Bengal now. We have to seal the border of West Bengal and selectively expel the infiltrators from the country and build Sonar Bangla of the Guru’s dreams.
People should get Bhawanipur seat, then see change: Amit Shah
The Union Home Minister said, ‘If the people of Bhawanipur get just one seat, then change will happen automatically. Suvendu Adhikari wanted to fight from Nandigram, but I told him to enter Mamata’s house and defeat her. This time Mamata will lose in Bengal and also in Bhawanipur.
He said, ‘Those who killed BJP workers should be put in jail. Some people said that TMC goons will not allow them to vote. I said that no TMC goon has the power to stop the people of Bengal. TMC has to be uprooted from its roots and thrown into the Bay of Bengal. There is so much infiltration here that the very existence of West Bengal is in danger. After 2014, the states which trusted Modi and formed the BJP government, those states are developing.
