Iran US Tensions; Tension between Iran and America has once again intensified. Sharp rhetoric continues between the two countries regarding naval activities, blockade and nuclear issue. While the US has described Iran’s navy as ‘pirate-like’, Iran has termed the US blockade as a direct act of war.
White House Press Secretary Carolyn Levitt made serious allegations against Iran, saying that Iran’s Navy has now become the most dangerous in the Middle East and it is acting like a “bunch of pirates”. He said that Iran has no control over the Strait (Strait of Hormuz) and the activities that are taking place are clearly piracy. He also said that the Navy blockade imposed by America is proving to be very effective.
Trump’s strict ‘redline’ on nuclear issue
Levitt said that President Donald Trump has made his red line completely clear. Iran can never acquire a nuclear bomb to threaten America and its allies. He said that Iran will have to hand over the enriched uranium it has and America is currently waiting for Iran’s response.
According to Levitt, only President Trump could save the lives of the eight Iranian women who were to be executed. He told that the news of the hanging of these women had reached the President, after which he made a direct appeal. In response, Iran agreed not to execute him.
Iran stopped three ships
According to Tasnim news agency, Iran’s ‘Revolutionary Guards’ intercepted two ships ‘MSC Francesca’ and ‘Epaminondas’ and took them to Iranian territorial waters and started examining their cargo, documents and related records. According to the statement of the Revolutionary Guards, these ships were trying to leave the Strait of Hormuz when they were stopped. According to BBC report, another ship named ‘Euphoria’ was stopped after the firing.
Tension increased amid ceasefire
This development has happened at a time when President Trump has announced to extend the ceasefire with Iran indefinitely. Trump said on Tuesday that there are serious differences within the Iranian government. On the request of Pakistan’s Field Marshal Asim Munir and Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, America has decided to stop the attack on Iran, so that Iran can present a joint proposal. However, Trump also made it clear that America will back down from the attack only when Iran’s leadership puts forward a united proposal for talks.
Iran’s counterattack on blockade
Meanwhile, Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has strongly criticized America. He said the blockade of Iranian ports is an “act of war” and a direct violation of the ceasefire.
It is noteworthy that this conflict with Iran started after the attacks by America and Israel on February 28, after which there has been continuous tension in the region.
