Will you campaign with Rahul Gandhi this time in the UP assembly elections? Akhilesh Yadav gave such a statement that went viral

Samajwadi Party (SP) President Akhilesh Yadav said on Monday that the alliance with allies will continue in the future elections and its formula will not be seat sharing but ‘victory in elections’.

At the ‘Amar Ujala Samvad Uttar Pradesh 2026’ event, when Akhilesh was asked whether he and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi would be seen campaigning together in the upcoming elections, he said his party has vast experience in running alliances and has always ensured that its allies also benefit from the arrangement.

Yadav said, ‘We have made many alliances. We have experience in alliance. Samajwadi Party has always ensured benefits for its allies. We have never cheated anyone. The alliance that exists today will continue in the future also.

He said that in future the discussion on alliance will not revolve around bargaining for seats but around ensuring electoral success.

He said, ‘There will be no question of seat in the alliance. Even during the Lok Sabha elections, I had said that the issue is not about seats, it is about victory. This formula will work again. The question will not be about seat, it will be about victory.

When the SP chief was asked that the ‘India’ alliance has failed to maintain the same alliance system in many states, he said that his party knows how to maintain the alliance.

When asked who will be the face of the opposition this time, Yadav said that this time the issues are inflation, rising prices of diesel, petrol and LPG, Agniveer youth, farmers, laborers and 69 thousand Shiksha Mitras who did not get permanent jobs.

He said, ‘Where BJP ends, PDA – Backward (P), Dalits and Minorities (an acronym given by Yadav for Backwards, Dalits and Minorities) begins there.’

When specifically asked about the face of the opposition, he said, ‘What is the need for a face for the opposition? Inflation is a big face in itself.

Referring to the NEET paper leak, he said, ‘If we take into account the five members out of the 22 lakh NEET affected students, it would be 1.1 crore people who were affected due to the leak. These 1.1 crore people are our faces. Among the affected people, four lakh students are from Uttar Pradesh.

When asked about his strategy to fight BJP, he said, ‘We will not reveal our strategy because we are fighting people who are very powerful people.’

On America-Iran war, Yadav said, ‘If India had stood with Iran, this war would not have happened.’

He said, ‘Just as our Prime Minister had landed in Pakistan without any program, if he had landed in Iran in the same way, this war would not have happened. I say this with full responsibility.

Responding to a question regarding Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s statement that Namaz will not be allowed on the roads, Yadav said, ‘There is a law on what is to be done or not to be done on the roads. There should be no political scoring. BJP is the biggest ‘adharmi (immoral) party.’

He said, ‘As far as roads are concerned, they should be widened… They (BJP leaders) are raising this issue so that our discussion takes a different direction on other issues.’

He said, ‘Who is offering Namaz on the streets? If there is shortage of space.. then what is the problem.. They want us to get stuck somewhere else.. We have learned from BJP that we will not fall for their words. We will first ask about NEET and other issues.

Yadav alleged that the Chief Minister has not done any development work in the state and has only focused on withdrawing serious cases registered against him.

He said, ‘No former Chief Minister in the state had to face such serious cases.’

Citing NCRB data, he alleged that women and girls are most unsafe in Uttar Pradesh. He claimed that even the state capital Lucknow is unsafe for him.

He alleged that the lawyers had come out on Monday to raise their concerns and a lawyer carrying a copy of Ramcharitmanas was beaten up after the police, at the behest of the BJP government, lathicharged the protesters.

Yadav said that ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ represents the true spirit of Sanatan tradition, which believes in accepting and taking everyone along, but the BJP is discriminating.

He also asked party workers and leaders to maintain restraint in their language and behavior and avoid mentioning age-old issues, idioms or proverbs that may hurt any person or community.

He urged party workers to be patient and disciplined even if others are angry.

He alleged that BJP leaders have hoarded gold in the last 10 years, causing prices to rise and they want to close down small jewelery shops in favor of big showrooms so that it is easier to earn commission.

Yadav claimed that BJP leaders used foreign-made goods while misleading the public on trade agreements and imports.
