Bhopal doctors surgery: The doctors of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Bhopal have succeeded in separating a three -year -old girl’s skull and a ‘parasitic twin’ (parasitic twins’ (parasitic twin or underdeveloped fetus) from a complex and challenging surgery. After this surgery, the girl has got new life.
The undeveloped fetus is called ‘parasitic twins’
AIIMS said that an underdeveloped twin fetus was connected to the child’s skull and neck. The ‘parasitic twin’ is an extremely rare therapeutic condition that arises when one of the two embryos during pregnancy is not fully developed and connects to another fetus. AIIMS said in a statement that this underdeveloped fetus is called ‘parasitic twins’ because it cannot survive on its own.
A three -year -old girl from Ashoknagar, Madhya Pradesh had a fleshy out of the time of birth behind the neck. He was admitted to the neurosurgery department of AIIMS Bhopal. The statement said that the girl was scanned by MRI and CT, which showed that an incomplete body was attached to the skull and spinal cord, which included legs and pelvic bones.
Surgery performed after intensive deliberation
In view of the complexity of the case, a meeting was held with Dr. Radha Gupta and Dr. Ankur (Radiology Department), Dr. Riyaz Ahmed (Pediatric Surgery Department) and Dr. Ved Prakash (Plastic Surgery Department). AIIMS said that after intensive deliberations, it was decided to undergo surgery as soon as possible to ensure that the girl could live a normal life.
On April 3, Dr. Sumit Raj successfully carried out this rare surgery with the help of Dr. Jitendra Shakya and Dr. Abhishek. Professor Dr. Ajay Singh, Executive Director of AIIMS Bhopal, appreciated the achievement of the team, saying, “AIIMS Bhopal is constantly making efforts to provide world -class health services in Central India. Success in such highly complex cases is a proof of the expertise of our doctors, inter-departmental coordination and better structural facilities of the institute. ”
