Before the new year, big and relief news has come out for lakhs of students studying medicine and pharmacy. The National Board of Examination in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has released the tentative examination calendar for major entrance and eligibility examinations to be held in the first six months of 2026. This step will provide special benefit to those students who were confused about their preparation for a long time and wanted to make the right strategy at the right time.
NBEMS says that the main objective of this examination calendar is to give a clear deadline to the students in advance, so that they can pursue their studies and practice in the right direction without any confusion. The board has also made it clear that this calendar is tentative at present and can be changed if necessary.
The examination process will start from January 2026
According to the released calendar, the examination process for the year 2026 will start from the month of January. Firstly, the NBEMS Diploma Final Examination, which is related to December 2025 session, will be conducted on 6, 7 and 8 January 2026. This exam will be conducted from 2 pm to 5 pm. This examination is considered very important for the students doing diploma course, because only after this the direction of further studies and career is decided.
This month, there is also going to be a big exam for the students who have completed their medical studies from abroad. FMGE i.e. Foreign Medical Graduate Examination December 2025 session examination will be conducted on 17 January 2026. This examination will be held in two shifts. The first paper will be from 9 am to 11:30 am and the second paper will be from 2 pm to 4:30 pm. This examination is considered the most important milestone for foreign medical graduates who dream of practicing in India.
The pace of examinations will increase in February and March
FDST-MDS exam for students joining dental course in February 2026 will be held on 21st February. After this, the month of March is going to be very busy for medical and pharmacy students.
FDST-BDS exam will be conducted on March 1, 2026. Just a week after this, GPAT 2026, considered to be the biggest examination for pharmacy students, will be conducted. This exam will be held on March 7 from 9 am to 12 noon. Through GPAT, one can get admission in MPharma in prestigious institutes of the country, hence students start preparing for it in advance.
Apart from this, Fellowship Entrance Test i.e. FET will be conducted on 14 March 2026 for the candidates preparing for admission to fellowship course.
The exam will continue from April to June
The phase of examinations will continue in the month of April also. Post Diploma Centralized Entrance Test i.e. PDCET will be conducted on 12 April 2026. After this, DRNB final examination will be conducted on 24, 25 and 26 April.
Diploma final examination (June session) will be held in May 2026 between 14th and 16th May. Whereas in the month of June, DNB final examination will run from 18th to 21st June. FMGE exam will be conducted once again at the end of the month. The FMGE June session exam will be held on 28 June 2026.
