In a tragic accident on the night of 7 February in Jahangirpuri area of ​​Delhi, two youths died due to suffocation due to gas while making momos. The deceased was preparing momos on a gas-fired stove in a closed room and after completing the work, he slept in the same room. In the morning both the youths were found unconscious and had died before reaching the hospital.

According to the police, the deceased have been identified as Musafiq Alam, 18 years old, and Rukhsad Alam, 30 years old. Both were residents of Bihar and used to sell momos while living in a rented room in Jahangirpuri for their livelihood. At night, both of them prepared momos on gas-based momo steamer or sigdi and later closed the room from inside and slept without switching off the gas heater. The level of poisonous gas smoke increased in the closed room, due to which both of them suffocated and lost their lives.

A horrifying scene emerged in the morning!

In the morning, when Musafiq’s elder brother called several times and got no response, he reached the room. He got scared after seeing smoke coming out of the room. Since the door was locked from inside, he opened the door with force. The scene inside was very scary, the room was filled with smoke all around and both the youths were lying unconscious on the bed. Police and PCR team were immediately informed. The police reached the spot and sent both of them to the hospital for examination, where the doctors declared them dead.

Police investigation and legal action

On receiving the information, the crime team and FSL team reached the spot and conducted a detailed investigation. During the investigation, no signs of any kind of struggle, forced entry or criminal conspiracy were found. Police say that prima facie this case appears to be an accidental death due to poisonous fumes of gas in a closed room.

Jahangirpuri police station has taken both the bodies in their custody and sent them to Babu Jagjivan Ram Hospital for post-mortem. At present, investigation action is being taken as per the law. Further action will be taken after the post mortem report and FSL’s opinion. After this accident, the relatives of the deceased are crying and in deep shock.
