Rishabh Pant will not captain Delhi Capitals in IPL 2027. Delhi Capitals traded Rishabh Pant to Lucknow Super Giants and LSG got Kuldeep Yadav in return. Delhi Capitals has been captained by Akshar Patel in the last 2 seasons. Under Patel’s captaincy, Delhi team has failed to qualify for playoffs. Delhi stood fifth in the 2025 season and sixth in the 2026 season.

Delhi captain will not change

Delhi Capitals has shared a video clip on social media. He welcomed Rishabh Pant to the Delhi team and in his talks he made it clear that he will remain the captain in IPL 2027.

Axar Patel said, “Being a friend and captain, I will tell him (Rishabh Pant) that there will be no pressure on him from my side or the franchise’s side. This (Delhi team) is his home and he has played here for many years. Being the captain, I will give him complete freedom.”

There will be changes in Delhi team

Apart from Rishabh Pant, there do not seem to be many major changes in the Delhi Capitals team. But the coaching staff of the team is going to change in IPL 2027. It is being told that Sourav Ganguly can be the head coach of Delhi team next season, while Yuvraj Singh can come to Delhi Capitals as batting coach. It will also be interesting to see what role KL Rahul gets in the team after the arrival of Rishabh Pant.
