Tension between America and Iran seems to be increasing rapidly once again. At the end of January, US President Donald Trump had said that very large and powerful warships were heading towards Iran and America hoped not to have to use them. Since then, America has significantly increased its military presence in the Middle East.

Iran, reacting to America’s military deployment, has said that it does not understand the language of power. Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said that America is deploying its ships and aircraft in the region, but Iran is not afraid of this. He clearly said that the presence of the American army does not intimidate Iran.

America’s aircraft carrier

According to BBC report, at the end of January, America deployed its aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln and three missile-equipped warships in the Arabian Sea. Along with this, about 5,700 additional soldiers were also sent to this area. America gave the message of peace through strength by releasing pictures of these ships on social media. Apart from these, many more American warships are deployed around the Persian Gulf, Strait of Hormuz and Red Sea. Special ships have also been kept ready to remove sea mines if needed.

America and Britain preparations

Talking about air power, America has also sent F-15 fighter planes, MQ-9 drones and A-10 attack planes to the Middle East. Britain has also deployed its Typhoon fighter jets in Qatar. Along with this, America has also strengthened THAAD and Patriot missile defense systems in the region. Amidst the tension, America has issued a warning to merchant ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz. American ships have been advised to stay away from Iranian territory and refuse any investigation.

President Trump’s demand from Iran

President Trump has demanded Iran to stop its uranium program, stop its ballistic missile program and not support regional organizations. However, Iran has consistently maintained that its nuclear program is only for peaceful purposes. Overall, the situation remains extremely sensitive and the eyes of the world are fixed on the US-Iran conflict.
