If you have not added a nominee in your PF account, your money may get stuck. In fact, if an employee dies and the nominee is not registered in the PF account, then the family may have to go through a long legal process to withdraw the PF amount. Many times one has to obtain certificate from the court and submit extra documents. In which both time and money are spent. Whereas when the nominee is registered, the PF amount is directly given to the person whom the account holder has chosen. Apart from this, EPFO has made the process of adding nominee completely online. Now employees can do e-nomination in their PF account sitting at home. EPFO’s member portal can be used for this.
How to add nominee in PF account?
- To add a nominee in the PF account, first go to the official website of EPFO, unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in/memberinterface.
- Login here by entering UAN number and password.
- As soon as you login, OTP will come on the registered mobile number, then complete the login by entering the OTP.
- After this, go to Manage section and select E-Nomination.
- Now go to the Provide Details tab and save your information.
- After this, click on Yes to update the family declaration and fill the information of the family member in Add Family Details.
- In the Nomination Details section, fill the information like name, Aadhaar number and address of the nominee.
- After this click on E-Sign.
- Now the e-nomination process will be completed as soon as the OTP received on the mobile number linked to Aadhaar is entered.
What things should be kept in mind?
You can add more than one nominee in the PF account and decide who will get what percentage of the amount. At the same time, it is necessary to update the information of the nominee in case of marriage or change in the family. Apart from this, fill the Aadhaar and other information correctly, so that there is no problem in future.
