Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are available for India only in ODI cricket. These days the Hitmen are playing the ODI series against Afghanistan, while Kohli is out due to injury. Both the players seem to be performing well consistently in the format, but still the question remains whether both the legends will get a place in Team India for the 2027 ODI World Cup? On this, BCCI Secretary Devjit Saikia gave a very interesting answer.

Saikia made it clear that such information cannot be made public. Talking to news agency PTI, BCCI Secretary said that reviews keep happening regarding Team India. There are constant conversations between the selection committee, cricket committee, players and coaching staff. Apart from this, he told that our system is very strong and many experts are involved.

Gave a twisting answer on the play of Kohli and Rohit

When Devjit Saikia was asked about Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma playing in the 2027 ODI World Cup, he replied, “I don’t think such things should be disclosed to the media or the public. These are strategic decisions and should be discussed within the boardroom.” One thing became clear from this that BCCI is not going to get any update on the playing of Rohit and Virat.

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli want to play World Cup

Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have indicated on many occasions that they want to play the upcoming ODI World Cup. After winning the 2025 Champions Trophy title, both of them had talked about continuing their respective games. But BCCI, coach Gautam Gambhir and Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar are not giving any clear talk on their playing. Now it will be interesting to see whether both the legends are able to play in the 2027 World Cup or not.
