Reason for lack of black players in Namibia’s team
The first reason for so few black players in the Namibian team is historical. Till 1990, this country was under the control of South Africa. Cricket was considered a white sport. Cricket coaching was available in the big schools where white people’s children studied. Cricket has very little reach in black majority areas. Most cricket is played in Windhoek, the capital of Namibia and mostly white people live here. In other cities or rural areas of Namibia, more black people live, who like soccer more. Quota system has also been running in Namibia since 2010, but despite this, the change there is slow, because cricket is still a very small game in Namibia.
