Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Sunday (February 22) said that the ‘NaMo Bharat’ rapid rail corridor connecting Delhi to Meerut will bring a revolutionary change in the pace of the national capital. He thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for this precious gift. The Chief Minister laid special emphasis on the fact that in view of the increasing population of the national capital and the challenges of transportation, this corridor will contribute significantly to the overall development of the city.

PM Modi on Sunday dedicated the entire 82 km long Delhi-Meerut NaMo Bharat Corridor to the nation while inaugurating the remaining two sections of India’s first NaMo Bharat Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS). The inaugurated sections include a 5 km stretch between Sarai Kale Khan and New Ashok Nagar in Delhi and a 21 km stretch between Meerut South and Modipuram in Uttar Pradesh.

What is the benefit to Delhi from ‘Namo Bharat’ corridor?

CM Gupta said, “This corridor will help passengers save time and resources and will prove to be a historic achievement for Delhi and the surrounding areas. Stretching from the national capital Delhi to Meerut, this corridor will provide fast and reliable connectivity to millions of passengers every day.” Apart from this, he said that this project is expected to reduce traffic jams and reduce carbon emissions by reducing the number of private vehicles on the roads, which will have a positive impact on the environment.

Economic activities will get a boost in Delhi-NCR-CM

Describing the success of this project as a major example of the country’s infrastructure development, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that it will boost economic activities in the Delhi-NCR region, strengthen employment opportunities and accelerate balanced regional development. Expressing deep gratitude to the Prime Minister on behalf of Delhi, he said that this initiative will prove to be a transformative fundamental step for the coming generations.
