Apart from this, the officer also gets Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), Traveling Allowance and other facilities, due to which his total in-hand salary becomes much more than this.
How much does salary increase after promotion?
As an officer gets experience and promotion in the Indian Police Service, his salary also increases. According to the 7th Pay Commission, initially the salary for the post of DSP is around Rs 56,100 per month, which becomes around Rs 67,700 on becoming Additional SP and Rs 78,800 on becoming SP. After this, DIG gets around Rs 1,31,000, IG gets Rs 1,44,200, ADG gets Rs 2,05,000 and the highest post DGP gets around Rs 2,25,000 per month. That is, it is clear that with promotion, the income of an IPS officer can reach more than Rs 2 lakh.
Facilities available to IPS
The officer not only gets salary, but many important government facilities are also given, due to which this job is considered very attractive. As per the posting, they get government accommodation or bungalow, which is often in a safe and good area. If government house is not available then House Rent Allowance (HRA) is given.
