- DMK, MNM expressed strong objection to the Governor’s rule.
Even after the results of Tamil Nadu Assembly elections have come out, there is still confusion regarding the formation of a new government in the state. Governor R. There is an uproar on behalf of V. Arlekar over not allowing Thalapathy Vijay’s party Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) to form the government despite winning 108 seats. Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu’s former ruling party DMK along with parties like Kamal Haasan’s MNM, VCK and CPI have unitedly supported Vijay and TVK. Political parties in Tamil Nadu have termed the Governor’s not inviting Vijay to form the government as an insult to the mandate.
In fact, in the assembly elections, Vijay’s Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) emerged as the largest party in the state by winning 108 seats. However, the majority figure in Tamil Nadu Assembly is 118. In such a situation, Vijay is 10 seats short of the 118 required to form the government, but after the support of the Congress Party, TVK now has a total of 113 MLAs, that is, it is still 5 seats short of the majority. After which Tamil Nadu Governor Vishwanath Arlekar has asked Vijay to first clarify his majority.
What did the parties supporting Vijay say?

Veerapandian also said that since no party has got a clear majority and TVK is the largest party, as per the constitutional tradition Vijay should be the first to get the chance to form the government.

DMK leader A. Saravanan said that when no pre-poll alliance is in majority, then the largest party should get the first chance to form the government. He said that till now no other party has staked claim to form the government, whereas TVK has submitted the letter of support of 113 MLAs to the Governor.
How did BJP react on the matter?
